Presentation

Trained as a social scientist, Jens’ research bridges the fields of agronomy and social anthropology, focusing on smallholder farming systems, rural livelihoods, and agricultural development in the Global South (mostly southern and east Africa). Topics of particular interest include socio-technological change (technology interventions, farmer adoption and impact, social inequality), natural resource management, digital advisory tools, farming practices and labour, legume-based agricultural intensification, and the role of agricultural research in the development of smallholder agriculture.
