What I can bring to this network ?
I can share regional experience on cropping systems, particularly from South Asia, Central Asia, and the MENA region. These regions encompass a wide range of agro-ecological zones, farming practices, and socio-economic contexts, which provide valuable insights into the design and adaptation of cropping systems. What I seek in this network ?
I seek to be an active and engaged member of the Cropping Systems Network, contributing to community of practice. I aim to both share insights from my regional and field experience and learn from the diverse perspectives and innovations of other members. I am particularly interested in supporting the advancement of integrated systems science—bringing together agronomy, ecology, socioeconomics, and policy—to inform and strengthen key research and development agendas. By working collaboratively, I hope to contribute to the co-creation of knowledge and solutions that address the complex challenges facing cropping systems across different agro-ecological and socio-economic contexts."Lopez Ridaura Santiago

I'm an agronomist engineer working for a regional irrigation company in South East France, called Société du Canal de Provence (SCP). I'm in charge of small team of engineers and technicians dealing with soil science and field irrigation management and control. Our resources : sensors, IT platform as well as soil description and analysis, all of which settled on a strong agronomic and pedologic expertise. Our activities : sharing first level collective advice, bringing high value services, experimenting and innovating on new techniques and practices.I also developped a specific expertise on waste water REUSE, and managed projects on this topic in France and in the MENA region. Considering climate change context and impact on water cycles, each freshwater drop counts, even if it is recycled...

Dr. Gawdiya’s research focuses on nutrient-use efficiency, soil–plant interactions, biochar-based soil enhancement, and climate-resilient agronomy. With a strong background in field experimentation, stress physiology, and advanced data-driven modeling, his work bridges traditional agronomy with modern machine learning, remote sensing, and systems-level crop prediction. His current research integrates multi-season field trials, soil amendments, crop physiology, and predictive analytics to identify strategies that enhance productivity, resource-use efficiency, and sustainability in cereal-based systems, particularly in rice and wheat across diverse Indian agroecologies. Dr. Gawdiya is also increasingly engaged in AI-enabled agronomy—developing ML models for yield prediction, genotype evaluation, and environment–management interactions.
Growing up in the arid regions of Rajasthan, he brings a soil-centric perspective to agricultural resilience.
