Presentation
Katrien Descheemaeker is Professor Plant Production Systems in the Plant Science Group of Wageningen University (Netherlands). Katrien's research focuses on farming systems analysis, soil-plant-animal interactions, sustainable development and resource use efficiency, with a special interest in the functioning and dynamics of mixed crop-livestock systems. Current activities combine experimental trial work with simulation modelling to identify and assess options for sustainable intensification and climate-smart agriculture. Across various projects on smallholder farming systems in sub-Saharan Africa, Dr. Descheemaeker designs participatory and co-learning approaches that aim to co-design tailored agricultural technologies and practices to improve farm productivity, food security, resilience to shocks, and natural resource integrity. What I can bring to this network ?

Presentation
Dr Shalander Kumar leads the Markets, Institutions, and Policies cluster and is Deputy Global Research Program Director of the Enabling Systems Transformation Program at ICRISAT, Hyderabad. Dr Kumar has over three decades of experience working in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Current focus of his work is on data driven systems approaches for scaling climate smart and nutrition sensitive agricultural value chains and food systems; tools and frameworks for co-designing holistic solutions for resilient farm and food systems; and food and development policy analysis around transformation, seed systems, agri-business opportunities, climate adaptation and mainstreaming millets. What I can bring to this network ?
Systems analysis, multicriteria and bioeconomic modelling for evaluating and co-designing systemic solutions bundles for systems transformationWhat I seek in this network ?
• Global networking to strengthen knowledge on systems science• Collaborative efforts on mainstreaming system science for addressing the wicked challenges of smallholder agri-food systems
